Find out about the Career Compass Model and make your students more career competent.
The Euroguidance Career Compass Model
The Career Compass Model was developed by the Dutch Euroguidance centre to help make students more career competent.

By developing career competences, young people gain a better understanding of themselves as professionals and thus develop a picture of which work and work environment suits them best. Based on five essential career competences, tools have been put together for both the learner and the counsellor to support them in shaping careers.
The Career Compass toolkit for career professionals

This toolkit supports career guidance professionals in the application of the Career Compass model in the educational sector. It introduces the approach of the model and the theoretical background of its development. It provides a blueprint for a career interview based on the five career competences and questionnaire to monitor the progress of career competences.
Career Compass reflection cards
The Career Compass model also consists of reflection cards for each of the five career competences with a step-by-step plan for the counsellor. These 5 cards provide reflection questions, indicators and an explanation of the approach.
A Career Guidance and Planning Portfolio
Based on the five competences of the Career Compass model, a template has been developed for a student portfolio. Here the learner can write down all the outcomes of the reflection related to the five competences. Other documents supporting the learners’ on obtained knowledge, skills and competences, like a CV, motivation letters, certificates and reference letters.
